What I offer

What I offer

I offer a detailed, professional, and affordable service for any individual or business who does not have the time or people to proofread. You may have trouble with wording and/or spelling in digital aspects such as websites, blogs, social media, or documentation, such as leaflets/brochures. You can contact me by email or phone, where deadlines and costs will be discussed. I look forward to working with you.

QUALIFIED PROOFREADER

I obtained a distinction with a Proofreading and Editing diploma through the Centre of Excellence.

EXPERIENCE

VOLUNTEER PROOFREADER

Last year, I volunteered for an online newspaper, proofreading articles before going to print. This enabled me to start a portfolio of my proofreading work.

ADVERTISING

I was employed by an advertising company to proofread and edit advertisements, using QuarkXPress, before submitting them to The London Gazette and other national newspapers.

I studied and passed my Proofreading and Editing Diploma whilst employed in this position.

MEDICAL

I proofread (sometimes edited) consultants'/doctors' letters in local hospitals before they were posted out to patients, other medical departments, general practitioners (GPs), etc.

LEGAL

The job needed excellent attention to detail for all legal documents, where I proofread letters, emails, and other documentation before distribution.

ARE YOU LOSING OUT ??!

"Fifty-nine per cent of Britons will NOT use a company that had obvious grammatical or spelling mistakes on their website or in their marketing material."

Hi, I am Penny Kelly, a qualified Proofreader. This has allowed me to extend my knowledge of grammar and the English language. I have proofreading experience in many of my previous jobs - some of these work environments were where excellent attention to detail was paramount.

I previously worked for an advertising company where I proofread adverts for Deceased Estates and Licence requests. These adverts were then featured in national newspapers. Unfortunately, this job ended during the pandemic. I am now looking to advance my proofreading career.

  • I have always had an interest in English literature and language. This is why I became a proofreader.
  • Whether it's on social media, in a book, or in an article in a newspaper, I can always spot spelling and grammatical mistakes - it has become a lifelong habit!

It is important to see sense in what we read and write and I would like to contribute to this.
